Idaho Steelhead Fishing Report
Driving Conditions & Road Closures
It's always a struggle to find the motivation to steelhead fish in the dead of winter in a state where steelhead are scarce. We've had a few reports trickle in as of late, but things are pretty slow in general. The Main and Little Salmon have been the best/easiest/closest options as of late.
There are a decent number of fish in the system near Riggins and you're looking at smaller water. You won't get much solitude on the river, but there is space if you're willing to move around and hit the 'touch and go' areas.
Often times, you'll find fish stacked in plunge pools and tucked in behind rocks. Nymph rigs are your best bet. Overall, anglers are averaging about a fish per day. Doesn't sound like much, but that's not bad for Idaho steelheading.
