American Trout Lie in London
I just wanted to write up a quick post on our current situation in the UK. Since our blog shows up on a majority of our pages, it may be easiest to post here for all to see.
If you’ve tried to reach me lately and find I'm lacking on response time, it’s because I’m half way around the world until March 12. I did a bit of preventative maintenance to prepare for the absence, but it seems I’m still getting a good amount of phone calls and email.
Our Phone Line
I have all calls forwarding to my Blackberry. However, if I miss a call, which tends to happen quite a bit due to the time difference, you’ll get sent straight to voice mail. Unfortunately, I don’t have the best access over here, so getting back to calls is going to be spotty at best. If I can’t get back to you right away please don’t take it personally.
If you have a question or need help with something on the web site, the best way to get some quick help is to send an email. Again, I’ve got my Blackberry and I’ve been doing everything possible to get back to people within 24 hours.
How’s London?
It’s wonderful if you enjoy highly pretentious chain smokers, bland food, perpetual grayness, and really expensive [fill in the blank]. Just to give you an idea, the WiFi I’m using at Starbucks this very moment is 8.00 GBP per hour (or about 14.00 USD). Thank goodness for expense accounts.
Will I Be Fishing?
Yes, I’ll be getting down and dirty for triploids on a pond called Ravensthorpe. Good stuff. I’m hoping to get a money shot with Maximus Carpus, but I’m pretty sure stocked bows will be the best bet this time of year.
What’s Going on with Reports?
Honestly, our area reports may be a bit spotty until I get back to the US (March 12). I’ve received some great emails about the Owyhee and South Fork, but since I haven’t been there first hand, I can’t really give you the best information.
However, the first thing I’m going to do when I get back, besides kiss my wife and eat some real food, is get on a river. Once I get back into the swing of things the reports will be on track and business as usual.
I’ll be sure to post more about our experiences at Ravensthorpe, but in the mean time, feel free to get in touch if you have any urgent questions or just want to say hello.
I’m looking forward to getting back to the side of the world where people are normal! I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while I'm away.
Cheers,
Greg
